We are watching the History of Broadway on public tv. The are talking about La Cage Aux Folles. Patrick, Ed's bro, was in this show in college. I would highly recommend it if you ever get a chance to see it. It is amazing. And alot of fun.

I might try to plant an herb gardent this weekend.

I also my make a baby gift for Frank and Carol's baby. Frank is Ed's best friend. I feel like he needs an extra special gift because he was born on my birthday.

I also need to get extra set of keys made.

blogging on a Sat. night

i am loving the verizon at home

Just got home from the Irish Pub in our neighborhood. We met up with one of Ed's friends who was in from out of town. They have 75 cent fish and chips on Sat. night. 75 cents!! Prior to that we out for Thai food also in our 'hood (we didn't know about th 75 cent f & c until we got there). So basically I ate twice and had some beers and am stuffed. Shout out to Matt Brenda's bro who was also in town. I can't tell you how much I love walking over a few blocks to meet people for dinner and a drink!

Ed quit reading over my shoulder. You can't read blog posts until they are actually posted. It's bad luck.

Francophonie was a great time last night! We ate way to much! Favorite countries: Togo, Ivory Coast, Belgium, Switzerland, and Canada.

Meeting friends for brunch tomorrow at Eastern Market and that is basically our only plan. I am excited for a lazy day.

I got my watch exchanged that Ed me for my birthday. I lost my watch at Christmas, and Ed gave me a watch on my b-day but it didn't work. FINALLY I will know the time. How life altering this will be. I look forward to it.

I am really into Hiefeweizens (sp) I had a great one at "Belgium" last night and then a good one out of Austin, TX tonight.

Suze Orman is on right now. She always has crazy shirts. I like her advice, but her wardrobe choices are nothing short of terrible.

Okay, I am totally random now. I am ending this blog.

August 11, 2007

be there or be square!

We found a venue--a beautiful restored mansion in Minneapolis. We are really really excited about it!

Other than that we had such a good trip to MN last weekend. It was fun to check out venues and catch up to people. Mad shout outs to Anna, Mindy, Natz, Gretchen, Matt, Dave, Justin, Meggan and Eric. (I always like reading my name on other blogs). What a great group of friends! Special thanks to MindyDeary and GolfWeasel for hosting one heck of a fun party! Anyway, I really do love MSP. Always great to spend some good QT with the fam too!

I am excited for tonight! It's the annual Francaphonie. The French Embassy hosts a big bash with all of the different countries who have French speakers. Each country has a booth with food. You would be amazed at all of the countries there--Latvia? Anyway, we went last year and it was a total blast. I am excited. I want to win the trip to France too--everyone send me good vibes.

cool.

thanks, Ed.

and thanks Verizon.

how hard is it to get me things on time?

What is with people this week not getting me thing on time at work? offenders include: production, clients and even my own teammates. So what is happening is I just keep moving things from today's to-do list to tomorrows. However, tomorrow and Friday are looking mighty full!

Iit would just be so much easier if everyone followed the rules

Weekend Recap

It's Sunday and we're at Ed's work. We are buying tickets for Easter and our free internet days at home seem to be gone.

Today we made some spaghetti for our friend Jenny Chang. Jenny is about my age (couple years older) and is having the fight of her life with breast cancer. A bunch of us brought over food for her and her husband Dom earlier today. She felt well enough to chat, and it was really great to see them both. We all stayed for a couple of hours. It was really nice.

Then Kevin and Sarah came over for pizza. I bought this extra-large fresh pizza at the grocery store yesterday. I guess it was a little large for 2 people, but Ed scoffed at its enormity when I brought it home. It fed four people well so I guess it was good that we shared.

Had a super cultural-filled weekend other than that. Friday night we grabbed some Chinese food next to the Mexican place that went last weekend. It was really great and reasonable and I felt like should have discovered it by now. :) We then went over the Library of Congress for a choral concert by a group from Switzerland that did music that was either used in Shakespeare plays or of that period. It was really great--and free.

Sat. a.m. we met Stephanie for the Shakespeare Theater's (unrelated to the concert) prop sale. OOOH that was so fun!. All of these amazing costumes and props--way out of my price range. We did find a box of great fabric scraps that we are giving to Ed's mom for her quilting. Don't worry, Anna. I got you a bag of funky fabrics.

We then went over to the National Archieves who was showing Academy Award live action shorts and animated shorts. We were there all afternoon except for a break for lunch. Wow! What an awesome treat though; they were all so well done and so different! The creativity was amazing. I am not sure if you can get them on Netflix, but let me know if anyone is interested in the names. I am totally going next year too. They also showed documentary shorts and all of the documentaries earlier in the week all for free. I can't express how much I love free cultural entertainment. Or anything free for that matter.

We then went to a concert that night that was the Bulgarian group. It was an all-female group with a really unique sound. It was folksey and old-world sounding. Very cool. That was free but only because Stephanie's parents couldn't use the tickets.

I think we are fully cultured for a while. :)

This morning I started watching Monster-in-Law. My brain needed a break.

Probably do nothing and then watch the Academy Awards tonight. My vote is for The Last Farm (though Cashback was really great and will probably win) for live action shorts and the Son and the Moon for animated short.

Ahh let’s see… Had a good weekend

Ahh let’s see… Had a good weekend.

Our weekend actually started on Thursday because we actually went out on Thurs. like we were in college. Funny the place we went to—The Pour House—felt like college. I walked in and knew I was old. I was instantly annoyed by the crowd and smoke. Luckily a table had been bagged otherwise I would have been gone in a ½ hour. The table next to us was making pyramids with their empty beer bottles. They crashed like six times. It was a frat party. Did I mention they have $1 bud lights? The entire bill for 22 beers and several appetizers was like $45.

Met up with everyone at La Lomita Dos for a good Friday night meal. I totally ate too much. Queso = danger. It’s so fun to meet up at a neighborhood place. I feel like I am on Friends.

Sat. we got the oil changed and went to the gym. Then Tonya, Bitsy, Brenda, Sarah and I all ventured to NoVA for some good shopping. You can tell we all have mid-west roots. First stop: AC Moore, the king of all craft stores. Second stop: Marshalls for some good, comb-through-the racks bargains. I got a black cocktail dress with a MSRP of $165 for $25. 3rd stop: Wendy’s. Ed and I went to Firewall that night. It is a good Harrison Ford thriller if you are in the mood. I liked it. I was up on my seat ½ the time, and Ed just doesn’t understand how I can let movies affect me so much. They do, okay? And that’s why I hate scary ones…

Sunday, I got groceries early in the a.m. and then was tired so I took a nap. We went to church at 12:30 and the service was in the upper church. All the other ones we have been to have been in the lower church (nice way of saying the basement). The upper church is SO beautiful. Attendance is poor at our church. There were probably 15 people there. It’s in a random location, and there is a Jesuit boys school attached so I don’t think people think of it being a church.

Went to the gym after that and then watched North Country, which was really good. I couldn’t tell how closely they followed the actual story…does anyone know?

I just got off the phone with the appointment desk at my Drs. Man, what a production. I was about ready to reach through the phone and strangle someone. Seriously. Three separate calls. Numerous transfers. Hours of my life wasted on hold. I got it all figured out though, and now I feel really good. Like you do after a major accomplishment, which I guess it was.

Still no office pics. We are having problems pirating our neighbor’s wifi at home. Good thing for us, we are getting the internet—all legit-style. We begin the process on Friday. By we, I mean Ed does because he is going to wait for them to come install the phone line. It takes a week after that to actually get internet service. I neglected to blog about Ed’s traumatic experience with Comcast trying to get cable internet. We “don’t talk about it.” It was that bad. Comcast sucks in ways too numerous to count. Verizon DSL though. We have high hopes in them. Very high hopes.
